Manage episode 371132256 series 2867603
Karl Darden is a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge. While his big boast is hosting Navy Sports Central, his sports acumen is wide and deep. We cover Roberto Clemente, Arthur Ashe, the great NCAA championship match featured in the movie Road to Glory among other influential people in sports history. This conversation is a reminder of the significant role Black athletes have played in highlighting social justice issues here in the United States and abroad.
Darden is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a 20 year Navy veteran who flew helicopters for our Naval forces.
Darden’s current mission is to shine a light on the elite Navy athletes who serve it up on the court, on the field, on the track with the same intense determination they bring to serving our nation.
