On this week’s episode of Waking Up, I sat down with Helané Wahbeh of the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), which is dedicated to the study of human interconnectedness, altered states of consciousness, and noetic states through scientific and experiential methodologies. We dive into intuition and intellect, using discernment, taboos related to spirituality, and much more. For the latest updates, offerings, and ponderings visit www.brookesprowl.com…
On this week’s episode of Waking Up, I had the absolute privilege of sitting down with Zen meditation teacher, author, and poet Henry Shukman. We discuss topics such as the similarities and differences between spirituality and psychology, non-dual awareness and the ego, parallels between Internal Family Systems Therapy and mindfulness, Henry’s spontaneous awakening experience, spiritual bypass, and what it means to have an authentic relationship to spirituality. Henry is one of those people who deeply embodies kindness and presence, and is also very open about his own struggles and difficulties. He’s exactly the kind of person I love to learn from, because it’s clear that he is truly walking the walk, not just talking the talk. I hope you’ll enjoy getting to learn from him as much as I did. My guest Indy Rishi Singh embodies joyfulness, exuberance, and playfulness like few people I’ve met. He leads workshops on laughter and play with major companies and universities, in addition to his work with prison meditation, gamifying civic engagement, regenerative economics, and systems design. In this episode, we discuss how to cultivate childlike wonder and laughter, the illusory nature of reality, play as a spiritual practice, consciousness as the fundamental substrate of reality, Western misconceptions of the meaning of karma, and how we can apprentice ourselves to the wisdom of children. Indy is an exceptional human and an absolute blast to collaborate with. I hope you find this interview as delightful as it is meaningful. In this week’s episode of Waking Up with Brooke Sprowl, my guest, cognitive science researcher Dr. John Vervaeke and I explore topics such as the fundamental nature of reality, non-dual awareness, the practice of overcoming self-deception, transjectivity, relevance realization, optimal grip, neoplatanism, self-transcendence, complications of AI, and the necessity of a spirituality that is scientifically rigorous. Before I jumped on a call with a marketing expert Colin Scotland to tackle the *exhilarating* topic of how to improve my website’s lead conversion, I would have bet a million bucks that nothing much would come of it other than a few practical ideas to help scale my company. I knew nothing about Colin but given his marketing expertise, I assumed he’d be a wheeling-and-dealing type, trying to pitch me on some overpriced business coaching package. I had no idea Colin’s mission was about far more than marketing and that this 30-minute free zoom call would set a wildfire of transformation that would blaze through every area of my life. So far from the stereotypical sales guy I’d imagined, I encountered a humble, kind, and soulful man who seemed genuinely interested in making a human connection and generously helping me achieve my goals. This week on Waking Up, Colin and I reconnected to discuss higher purpose, presence, spirituality, and the freedom to let down our walls and reawaken childlike play and wonder. What is closest to us is often most invisible: a fish doesn’t know it’s wet. Similarly, we are so deeply conditioned by our culture that we are often unaware of how it frames our inner and outer experience. This is self-validating, making it even more invisible because it is left unquestioned. We unconsciously embody and enact our cultural programs. Until we begin to wake up to our constructed reality, we will in some sense, be puppets of our cultural forces. In this week’s episode of Waking Up with Brooke Sprowl, Brooke and guest Alex Federici sit down to relate, discuss their own experiences with capitalism, and imagine new ways of being. Coherence is the latent spiritual, creative, and transformative energy that naturally awakens in the process of living in integrity with our deepest values, highest purpose, and unique gifts. And that’s the basis of my psychospiritual model, Coherence Theory. When I began to identify the principles of emergence, it was completely life-changing. After a lifetime of seeking the newest psychological techniques and spiritual practices I thought would “save me,” I began to see that these practices, while powerful, did not produce deep and sustaining transformation without being grounded in a set of principles. It wasn’t until I began to live in accordance with these principles that I could experience a shift in my consciousness that infused my everyday experience in the deep and lasting way I had always longed for. And now I’m finally ready to share this breakthrough model with others. For the latest updates, offerings, and ponderings visit www.brookesprowl.com…
We are conditioned to view the world in opposites—mind and heart, surrender and agency, grief and gratitude. But what we conceptualize as opposites are inevitably inseparable parts of the same whole. It may seem hard to believe, but this way of thinking is conditioned and not real. We have been taught to see the world this way, and it has disastrous consequences to our mental health. Why? The tendency to falsely dichotomize the world can interfere with our ability to navigate effectively because we are using “either or” thinking to explore concepts that are better encapsulated by “both and.” Believing in false dichotomies causes us to pit various complementary elements of our experience against one another, setting up a warlike interior within ourselves. On this week’s episode of On Living with Brooke Sprowl, Brooke and Nicole Buzzelli dive into the exploration of opposites in their own lives. Have you ever felt like there was more to discover about yourself and about life, but wondered how to move along the journey to higher self-awareness? It can seem daunting when we weren’t taught these tools growing up and we can be left feeling overwhelmed on where to start. To make this step of your journey easier, we have compiled some practices that can be used whether you are just beginning your transformational journey or have been traveling for years. Each of these practices gives you tools to do the work and become not only more aware of yourself but of the life that surrounds us every day. In this episode of On Living with Brooke Sprowl, we invited the founder of the Center of Transformational Coaching, Leon Vanderpol, to speak with us around the topics of spiritual awakening as well as transformational practices. We hope you can gain something from this conversation that will help guide you on your own journey through life. Here are some of the key takeaways from the conversation: - Question your conditioned beliefs - Differentiate the voices in your mind: - Shadow Work - Take Things Slow As Leon VanderPol said, let what wants to happen, happen - it is a great place to start.
