דReturn to Me, says the Lord and I will return to you.” That's the message we find from the Book of Zechariah. In this lesson, we're thinking about Zechariah and Malachi. Zechariah is probably one of the more unknown of the minor prophets, although a larger book, not many people have read and thought about it. It is full of messages and imagery. It talks a great deal about things that the Messiah would do with a lot of prophecy involved in that. And so, we're going to be thinking about messages from Zechariah, about the Messiah, and then that last book in the Old Testament, Malachi. What does it say? “Return to Me, God says, and I'll return to you.” Who had fallen away from God and why did they need to return to Him? That's the question that initially comes, and of course the Book of Zechariah written to God's people, one of the final pleas encouraging them to get right with God and come back and God will also reignite that relationship that He had with them. ‘You who hate good and love evil,’ Micah 3:2. Welcome to our study of the book of Micah. Among the Minor Prophets, Micah stands out for his prophecies of repentance and of hope. Many of his prophecies deal with the upcoming kingdom of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The name Micah is in itself an interesting name. Micah means ‘who is like God.’ As a prophet of God, he reminds people of the nature and power of the God whom we serve. Micah preached at the same time as a contemporary. He preached that at the same time, a very difficult time, as Isaiah and Hosea encouraging the people not to get involved in further idolatry and to turn from their evil ways or impending judgment would come from the Lord. Have you ever had some money in your pocket, and then a little bit later you went to get that money out only to realize you had a hole in your pocket? It’s a tough feeling when you go around looking and aren't sure where it might be. There's a message there, and it's the message that we find in the book of Haggai, when God's people aren't putting Him first. It's like putting money in a bag with a hole in it. Zephaniah 1:18, God says, ‘Neither their silver nor their gold, we'll be able to save them.’ There were times of worldliness, there were times of prosperity in Israel, and yet during those times, the people started trusting in their wealth and not in God. It created great problems for them. Isn't that a practical message for us today? Sometimes our prosperity and our wealth gets in the way of us putting God where He ought to be. In this lesson, we're studying the books of Zephaniah and Haggai with this powerful message in sight. Zephaniah is not one of the more well-known minor prophets. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
This man was a super patriot, but not the greatest prophet. He's known as the running prophet. He wasn't really the man that we might think he was in a lot of ways as we read the book, but what we do know this man played an important role in God's plan. In fact, this man did something that's never happened to anybody else in the Bible. Did you know this man had the single greatest response that's ever recorded in scripture? Do you know who we're talking about? If we said he was swallowed by a big fish, would you then know? Welcome to our study of the book of Jonah. In this lesson, we're going to be thinking about the old prophet Jonah, the great running prophet, and the super patriot. Jonah's message among other things forever teaches that prejudice and racism are against the will of God. The book of Jonah shows God's love for the nations and how God wants these nations to be saved. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The word of God says, "If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. Old things are passed away. Behold, all has become new," 2 Corinthians 5:17. We welcome you today to our study of the benefits of being in Christ. Today, we're going to talk about why a person wants to make sure that he's in Christ and that he's a child of God. We hope that this encouragement will motivate all of us to make sure we're right on the side of God. In Ephesians 1:3, the Bible says that "Every spiritual blessing is ours in Christ Jesus." What a joy and a privilege it is for the child of God to be in Christ. We're going to think about- what are the benefits, why is it such a wonderful thing to make sure that a person is actually in Christ, and what does it mean to really be in Christ? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The Lord Jesus Christ said, "You shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free." John 8:32 How wonderful it is to know that a person can know God's truth and that each of us can be free from sin. But the question remains: How do you know? Are you sure that you know God's truth? How can you know, just as Jesus said, how can you know that you know the truth? Today, we're going to look to the word of God to determine how a person can know he has that truth in his life, and that he's right with God. Let's think about what does the Bible say about one knowing that he can know the truth? How can I be sure? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
What is it that separates Christians from those who just claim the name of Christ? Friend, it's the way they live that makes us special. It's the way Christians live that makes us unique, and today we're going to talk about daily Christian living. What makes Christians unique? What makes their lives stand out? The psalmist said, "My sins have gone over my head; like a heavy burden they're too heavy for me to bear" Psalm 38:4. Welcome to our study of man's sin and God’s forgiveness. This is a topic that is especially relevant for every person who's of an accountable age and wants to please God. From the Garden of Eden to the present time, man has had to deal with the sin problem. Thankfully God has made a way of salvation. It's sin that from that time in the garden that has plagued man as a result of his choices. What does the Bible teach about the sinfulness of man and God's forgiveness? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The Bible says “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for proof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work,” 2 Timothy 3:16-17. We welcome you today to our study of the inspiration of scriptures. How good it is to know and have our faith built upon the word of God, which came from the very mouth of almighty God. Let's turn our attention to the study of the inspiration of the Bible. Why is it important? Why do we need to think about the inspiration of scripture today? Well friend, this is a subject that we desperately need to study because there are so many people who just think of the Bible as a good book of good stories that has some practical application in certain parts of life. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The Lord said, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God,' Matthew 4:4. Welcome to our study of passion for Bible study. We want to think about how wonderful it is to study the Bible and why Christians ought to study that to have a closer relationship with almighty God. What does the Bible say about daily Christian living? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
“Be sober; be vigilant for your adversary, the Devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking those whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 Satan is no doubt aggressively pursuing people today who he can tempt, destroy, and what an evil, ungodly adversary the Devil is. Think about all the havoc that Satan has reeked on humanity since the very beginning. What can I do today, then, to turn the tables on the Devil? We welcome you to our study today of how to make the Devil mad. What would you do in your life if you wanted to make the Devil mad? If you did those things that would that anger Satan, what would those things be? We're going to talk about how to make the Devil mad, and what kind of Christian qualities are in your life will definitely get the Devil set on fire, and make him upset. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The Bible says in Isaiah 43:7, “Everyone who is called by name, whom I have created for my glory, I have formed him; yes, I have made him.” What a beautiful passage from the lips of Isaiah inspired by God that shows that we are created for the glorification of our God. You know, so many people wander through life without purpose, without meaning, just take a lackadaisical approach to life. They have no real direction or purpose. But yet the child of God is created by God to glorify and honor his name in everything we say and do. What does the Bible say about having a life that glorifies God? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
Every child of God is in a spiritual battle for his eternal soul. The word of God says, "Fight the good fight of faith," 1 Timothy 6:12. You can be sure that our enemy, the devil, is walking about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. He's going to and fro, back and forth on the earth looking for people to tempt and deceive to be lost, Job 1:6. What are we going to do to overcome our enemy, Satan, and to win the great battle? Welcome to our study of the whole armor of God. What am I to take up? How am I to live my life? What things do I have at my disposal? What tools do I have to win the battle? God has equipped every Christian to win that battle and to be victorious. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
The apostle Paul said, "For our citizenship is in Heaven, from which we eagerly wait for the Lord Jesus Christ." Welcome to our study of God's word and as we think about the Christians' way home. Home is one of those words that brings such a fond meaning to our hearts and to our life. We often say, "There's no place like home." How true that is. Where you feel the most comfortable, where you feel loved, where you feel protected and taken care of- home has a special place in every person's heart. Paul said our true citizenship is in Heaven. That's where we really belong, is in Heaven itself. Jesus said, "I'm going to prepare a place for you," John 14:1. There is that place of beauty, rest, and splendor for every child of God, but how do you get home? (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
‘Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say rejoice.’ There is no greater joy in all the world than the joy of being a Christian and the joy of being able to look up to Heaven and say, "Our Father, Who are in Heaven", Matthew 6:9. We're going to be thinking about why Christianity is such great joy, and how wonderful it is to be a Christian. Sometimes when you see Christians, sadly, they don't look very joyful. That's contrary to the way the Bible teaches. Christians ought to be joyful people. We ought to be able to have the joy that passes and the peace that passes all understanding. (The full transcript is available in the "Download Document" button above.)…
