1 LIAM'S MAP - Stallion Podcast - Christophe Clement - Steve Asmussen - Todd Pletcher - Javier Castellano - Mike Smith - Peter Sheehan - Presented by Lane's End 8:23
Liam’s Map is the sire of Grade 1 winners Basin, Hopeful S. (G1) and Arkansas Derby (G1), Colonel Liam, back-to-back editions of thePegasus World Cup Turf (G1) and Turf Classic S. (G1), Wicked Whisper, Frizette S. (G1) and Juju's Map, Alcibiades S. (G1). Not only do these top-level successes rank Liam’s Map among the best young sires, it puts him alongside some of America’s top stallions in history. Both Basin and Wicked Whisper hail from the first-crop of Liam's Map and since 1983, just eight other first-crop stallions have sired two Grade 1 winners, with only Danzig and Uncle Mo having sired both Grade 1 fillies and colts. An elite group of just five other stallions have sired winners of both the G1 Frizette and the G1 Hopeful—A.P. Indy, Storm Cat, Mr. Prospector, Bold Ruler, and Nasrullah. His success continued in 2024 with MGSWs Roses for Debra, Deterministic and Starting Over. Roses for Debra went on to top the Keeneland November Sale selling for $2,400,000. He saw 40 $150,000+ yearling sales, with a top price of $700,000. An $800,000 Keeneland September yearling, Liam's Map is out of the stakes-winning Trippi mare Miss Macy Sue, and is a half-brother to graded winner Not This Time and black-type winner Taylor S. Liam’s Map’s pedigree carries only one cross of Northern Dancer in the sixth generation, so his pedigree will be an ideal outcross for mares inbred to Northern Dancer. Since Liam’s Map’s pedigree largely consists of horses bred by or based on pedigrees of horses bred by John Nerud, it should also be beneficial to emphasize female families associated with Nerud other than Aspidistra. Candy Ride has found success with a wide variety of mares by stallions that descend from the Nasrullah line, with three stakes winners from mares by In Excess, as well as stakes winners out of mares by In Excess’s son, Indian Charlie, and Cozzene. 1 QUALITY ROAD - Stallion Podcast - Johnny Velazquez - Bob Baffert - Michael McCarthy - Peter Sheehan - Presented by Lane's End 7:57
The sire of Champions Corniche, Abel Tasman and Caledonia Road and 39 graded stakes winners, Quality Road has become one of the most successful sires in North America. His 15 Grade 1 winners also include 2023 Preakness S. and winner National Treasure, Bleecker Street, City of Light, Roadster, Bellafina, Dunbar Road, etc. Also in 2023, Quality Road sired undefeated multiple GSW Integration, additional GSWs include two-year-old Agate Road, Aspray, Missed the Cut and Hopkins. He was responsible for four TDN Rising Stars, second only to Into Mischief. His 2024 got off to a fast start with National Treasure returning to the winner’s circle in the G1 Pegasus World Cup, Impel being named a TDN Rising Star and Track Phantom earning points for the 2024 Kentucky Derby. Among others, Quality Road has sired: G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Hootennany from a mare by Storm Cat son Hennessy; multiple graded winner Blofeld out of a mare by Storm Cat himself; and stakes-placed horses out of mares by Forest Wildcat and Giant’s Causeway. Storm Cat could also be brought in through lines such as Forestry, Stormy Atlantic, Stormin Fever, Tale of the Cat, Mountain Cat, Tabasco Cat and Harlan’s Holiday. There are several other branches of the Northern Dancer line that should work well under Quality Road. His sire, Elusive Quality, has been extremely strong over mares by Dixieland Band and his sons, with Dixie Union appearing as broodmare sire of a stakes placed Quality Road two-year-old. Deputy Minister line mares should also work well, particularly through Silver Deputy. Elusive Quality, and the Gone West line in general, has enjoyed considerable success with Danzig-line mares, and Quality Road has stakes winner Overprepared out of a mare by Dayjur. Other promising sources of Danzig include Danehill and Belong to Me. (UPDATED FEB 1, 2025)…
