HURRY: Just Get it Done/”Check in the Box” – Stressful – “Me” Centric – Rigid
URGENCY: Present – Prioritized – Others Focused – Flexible
Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
- John 4:27-42
Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?”
- John 4:27-42
They came out of the town and made their way toward him. Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
- John 4:27-42
But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
- John 4:27-42
“My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest?’ I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.”
- John 4:27-42
Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony…So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days…
….now we have heard ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.
- John 4:27-42
“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” Jesus said, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me.”
- John 9:3-4
The time to love and serve others is ALWAYS NOW.
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.
- 1 Peter 4:7-11
Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
- 1 Peter 4:7-11
If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
- 1 Peter 4:7-11
1. Don’t Hesitate:
“The end of all things is near” 1 Peter 4:7
Be deliberate initiators of love
Love is not a transaction
Love is a gift
2. Build Relationships:
“Above all, love each other deeply”
- 1 Peter 4:8
“I can’t love who I don’t know” – Pastor Kyle
Prioritize the importance of relationships
3. Love with Humility
“Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling”
- 1 Peter 4:9
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition. Rather in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but to the interests of the others”
- Philippians 2:3-4
“Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves”
- Romans 12:10
“The day will come when you realize that as much as you believed you were doing the right thing, you were actually holding them back. You will come to understand that you were taking care of them because it made YOU feel good…”
- Kobe Bryant
Our intention when serving our neighbor should be to benefit them.
Feeling good is a natural result.
4. Honor God
“To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen”
- 1 Peter 4:11
God empowers us to participate in His will
