Undeserved Calling [Fulfilled pt. 3]
Manage episode 377215969 series 2434147
Main Idea: It is already hard enough to step into your calling but even harder when you consider all of the history of your mistakes and regrets. In fact, those mistakes can often stop you from moving forward because you almost feel like you don’t deserve to be able to move on. Many people over-exasperate themselves in trying to make the wrong things right by allowing it to hang over their head even after they made the right efforts to change and fix what was broken.
Today we’re going to look at the life of Jacob and how he had to overcome his past in order to fulfill his calling. We’re going to analyze the moment in which he reflected on his mistakes and decided to change. We’re going to unpack what it was like for him to put in the work to change while still having to live with the consequences of his actions along with unfair treatment. And we’re going to focus on the moment in which he finally found a sense of closure and redemption from his past in order to start walking forward in his calling.
1. Reflecting On Repentance
[PEOPLE WHO ACKNOWLEDGE WRONG THEY’VE DONE ARE ABLE TO HAVE THE GREATEST CHANGE IN LIFE]
(Genesis 28:10-22)
2. Delayed Repercussions
[WE OFTEN DON’T START SEEING THE RESULTS OF OUR MISTAKES UNTIL WE START TRYING TO MAKE THEM RIGHT]
(Genesis 31:4-7)
3. Wrestling With Redemption
[IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE GOD’S GRACE WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DON’T DESERVE IT]
(Genesis 32:22-31)
