In this episode, I explain the true purpose of meditation: focus. When I ask most people out there about meditation I find that most of the time I receive very similar responses. These responses typically relate to the fact that they are unable to clear their mind and meditation simply did not work for them. The concept that meditation in and of itself is simply the act of emptying the mind, is actually a false belief. Having a flow of thoughts is one inherent aspect of what it means to be a human, and it is not something that will simply go away when we cross our legs and close our eyes. Meditation is an art and a practice, and we will almost certainly get better the longer and more consistently we partake. I for one can say that meditation has brought me an enormous amount of relief from anxiety and mental distress of all shapes and forms. The practice had such a profound impact on my life that I chose to dive a little deeper and learn more about the scientific and physiological effects meditation has on our brains. Although I don't quote any of the references in the episode, it turns out the science is pretty dang convincing. Meditation is a workout for the mind, and it creates massive amounts of mental resilience in it's practice. Listen to this episode and learn my thoughts, experiences and information on this ancient art form. Download FREE Guided Meditations at https://themindfulsteward.com/join-us/.
