Today, the 11th of Farvardin 1399 or 2579, we are delighted and extatic to talk to Dr. Ori Goldberg again, and more or less complete the timeline series, with post-war and post-Khomeini Iran (or: Iran under Khamenei). As usual in this time of Coronavirus outbreak, we recorded thruogh Zoom.

Past episodes (all in Hebrew) in the Ori/Timeline series
Dr. Ori Goldberg has been voted the podcast's favorite guest (after a very challenging competition, as all our guests are amazing). These are are past episodes:
With Ori
Smurfs, tatoos and Shiite Islam
Shiite-Suni schism (say it!)
Iranian constitution
Timeline episodes
The first three timeline episodes were in Hebrew, but if we get enough English-speaking listeners, we will consider re-recording select episodes in English, including the timelines:
Timeline 1 – prehistory up to modern times
Timeline 2 – A century of Revolutions
Timeline 3 with Ori – the Islamic Revolution
Other Enriched Iranium episodes we referred to
The future episodes 61 with Dr. Ilan Abecassis and 62 with Ruby Namdar (will link when they air if I remember)
Khamenei's speech at the Council of Experts
This is the video we commentated on (Khamenei explains why he shouldn't be the next leader)
And this is the commentary video, feel free to share!
We also talked about
Khamenei and Rafsanjani. image courtesy of khamenei.ir
Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani – the man, the power, the pistachios
And also about how he "created the monster", and how he was mourned inside Iran while Iranians in the diaspora rejoiced at his demise.
TECHNICALITIES:
If you enjoyed this episode and wish to express your gratitude, you’re very welcome to buy me a coffee or two (or more, there’s no limit!) at www.ko-fi.com/thamar. All the links are also in the post body.
The following is more relevant for Hebrew speakers, but if you reached all the way up to here, you can understand English very well, so let’s be polite and do the technicalities part also in English:
If you want to express your appreciation, you can become my patron at www.patreon.com/thamar. For example, the raw-material patrons receive about half an hour more, including bloopers and my son's cute but irrelevant remarks – in both audio and video.
You can also invite me to lectures – now that the whole world is at home, it doesn't really matter that we're not in the same continent, I give quite excellent Zoom lectures, and have quite a few witnesses from my online courses – Capital-tour in Iran (capitals from more than 2600 years), introduction to linguistics and Pre-Islamic Iran. The course are in Hebrew, and late joiners get links to the private YouTube recordings of the previous lectures.
You're also encouraged to buy my books – the Book of Esther Unmasekd in English is also available on Amazon as black-and-white POD and ebook. For color printing and PDF files, and my other books in Hebrew – you are welcome to our site – www.zeresh.co.il.
I wish to thank all my patrons and the generous Non-Hebrew-Speaker sponsor of episodes 50-61, who wished to remain anonymous. Thank you book buyers, lecture inviters, and those of you who got me coffee – it was yummy, energizing and heartwarming.
Kiosk's song
Has to be "Haji, Do you remember", a song addressing Rafsanjani and reminding him about all the blood he has on his hands. This video includes Hebrew subtitles by yours truly.
Next times on Enriched Iranium
Next week, episode 61 is a crossover with Dr. Ilan Abecassis' podcast "the Chronicles". We will talk – in English – about the 5 millenium old Iran-Iraq war that persists under different names.
On episode 62 I talk with the celebrated author Ruby Namdar, author of "the house that was destroyed" – in Hebrew but maybe by that time we'll also record in English and release simultaniously. We don't talk about his books but about an even bigger passion of his – Persian poetry.
I hope episode 63 will be with David Nissan about his childhood in Iran and his bridge-building activities bringing Iran to Israelis, and I've also promised a talk with Prof. Amos Frumkin about Iranian caves and soil, Sam Thrope and Nico Agostini about their edition of the Bundahishn, and many more excellent speakers on excellent topics. If you've listened all the way up to here, I would appreciate your feedback on the English episodes – should I do more of them or concentrate on my Hebrew listenage? (<- I think I just made that work up).
Zoom and Corona give me an excellent opportunity to record, and I hope to keep the podcast running when we're free again. That depends, of course, on sponsorship or patronage, because love, satisfaction and fulfilling my calling are amazing, but my grocer doesn't accept them…
Thank you all for listening, and hear ya next week!
