After the Fall: Finding Purpose after Setback with Prince Daniels, Jr.
Manage episode 313219829 series 3262562
Prince Daniels, Jr. was told by a coach that he had a one in a million chance to play college football and a one in a billion chance to play in the NFL. He did both. As a running back at Georgia Tech, he set an NCAA record for rushing yards in a bowl game. He followed his illustrious college career to play for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. Understandably, “football player” became part of how Prince saw himself. And then injury took it all away. The physical aspect was only a part of the toll from the injury. He also suffered from anxiety and depression. Using meditation and mindfulness as tools of recovery, Prince found solutions for himself and also a new calling. An author, entrepreneur, and mindfulness expert, Prince helps athletes, professionals, and youth achieve their potential.
Prince is author of Mindfulness for the Ultimate Athlete: Mastering the Balance Between Power and Peace. He runs Game Beyond the Game, a platform to help athletes create a sustainable life of purpose after the game. He’s host of Talk that Talk, a series of conversations to enable and empower athletes to find their purpose after the game.
In this episode of What I Wish I Knew with Mike Irwin & Simon Daw, Prince describes his journey to recovering identity and purpose.
