Fashion and style. One is a form of self expression, while the other is a combination of distinctive features. Then there's the fashion industry, and while this industry has made clothes more affordable than ever before and at a blindingly fast pace, there is a cost. The fashion industry produces 10% of all humanity’s carbon emissions and is the second-largest consumer of the world’s water supply. But what if we saw clothing as having a cyclical lifecycle, and what if this view could be used to solve the some of problems within the fashion industry? And on top of that what if fashion could be used to create and serve a community? Well this episode's guests Charlotte von Meister and Danielle Sturm did just that when they created The Nest, a secondhand showroom and gathering space with a mission to elevate and incubate sustainable style. But The Nest and this episode is about much more than clothes. It's an episode about community, self expression, the desire to change an industry, finding the ideal business partner, taking a huge risk, and finally creating a place for people to connect.
