In today's crucial conversation, Kat speaks to Dr. Paul Morland, a leading demographer and acclaimed author. They explore the demographic challenges we are facing globally. Unravelling the so called ‘demographic trilemma’. The balancing act nations perform aiming to maintain their cultural identity, achieve economic vitality, and thriving family life with the needs of a stable society alongside the looming shadow of declining fertility rates.

They also look at how countries like the UK grapple with the pressure of supporting an ageing population, the impact of large-scale immigration on economic and cultural landscapes, and the controversial discussions surrounding ethnicity, nationalism, and integration that have become taboo.

Join us as we explore Dr. Morland's perspective on pro-natal policies, the scepticism around their effectiveness, and the growing political backlash against immigration. We'll touch upon how demographic shifts can influence global power structures, as observed in Morland's reflections on the fall of the Soviet Union, and the complex factors driving the fertility rates in regions such as Israel and Africa.

Here are the Highlights:

00:00 Should we Tax the Childless?

05:01 Debate on the Impact of Low Fertility Rates
