The Mummafesto podcast is hosted by Stella Creasy MP, a Labour backbench MP and mum of two young children. Each week it considers how parenting influences politics- Episode Four's special guest is Baroness Helena Kennedy, a leading barrister and expert in human rights law, civil liberties and constitutional issues. She is a Labour Peer and Chair of Justice. She’s a member of the Doughty Street Chambers and has acted in many of the most prominent cases of recent years including the Brighton bombing, the Michael Bettany espionage trial, the Guildford Four appeal and the bombing of the Israeli Embassy. As well as her work on women’s rights, Helena has been leading work on international war crimes in Ukraine and is the Founder of the Helena Kennedy Foundation for social mobility. The Mummafesto is where politics and parenting combine - in this episode Helena discusses her experience of being a woman campaigning for change via the law and the way in which becoming a parent influenced that work.
