J.P. Dinnell, a former U.S. Navy SEAL with three combat deployments, served as point man, machine gunner, and sniper for SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser, the most decorated special operation unit in the Iraq War.
J.P. was lead sniper for Delta Platoon, opposite of "American Sniper", Chris Kyle, who served in Charlie Platoon. JP was awarded a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars with Valor and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor.
J.P. worked closely with SEAL Officers Jocko Willink, his Task Unit Commander, and Leif Babin, and was the driving force on many of the daring combat operations Jocko and Leif wrote about in their best selling book, :"Extreme Ownership".
J.P. and I discuss his childhood, how he became a Navy SEAL, where he was on 9/11 and his time serving a lead sniper for Task Unit Bruiser's Charlier Platoon.
We also discuss J.P.'s transition out of combat, into training and challenges that presented.
JP is now a Leadership Instructor, Speaker, and Strategic Advisor with Echelon Front, where he serves as Director of Experiential Leadership Training Programs.
