Rock and Roll Highschool

El noise rock es un subgénero del rock experimental filtrado a través del punk, el hardcore o la música industrial. Se caracteriza por el empleo de guitarras distorsionadas, la atonalidad, el ruido blanco o los efectos electrónicos procedentes de drones o sintetizadores. Se cita a The Velvet Underground como los grandes precursores, aunque el principal caldo de cultivo se dio en la escena No Wave de finales de los 70 y Nueva York fue el gran epicentro. A mediados de los 80 se suavizarían las formas, añadiendo más peso de las melodías y haciéndolo mucho más accesible, lo que llevó a la etiqueta de noise pop.
