Spencer Torkelson crushed a two-run home run to cap a three-run outburst in the bottom of the eighth inning, leading the Detroit Tigers to a 6-5 win over the reeling Miami Marlins in the opener of their three-game series in Detroit.

The Marlins had just taken a 5-3 lead in the top of the eighth inning, on Otto Lopez's two-run home run.

Nick Gordon, Jazz Chisolm and Josh Bell had two hits each for the Marlins, (11-32) who have won just twice in their last ten games.

The two teams play again tomorrow night in Detroit, with Ryan Weathers (2-4) taking the mound for Miami, against the Tigers' Reese Olson. (0-4)
