Anthony Davis Dominates in Lakers' 111-97 Preseason Loss to Warriors. Shots Still Not Falling.

There was plenty of stuff to like in Tuesday's preseason loss to the Warriors in Las Vegas.

Start with Anthony Davis, who flat out dominated in 26 minutes of play with 24 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, plus a steal and a block. He was 10-14 from the floor. He hit from the basket working in the post, he finished on the pick and roll, he hit jumpers. It was all there. In fact, take away Davis's stat line, and the Lakers were a putrid 24-81 on the night. That is, to say the least, abominable. So it just goes to show how good Davis was, because nobody around him was getting it done.

Meanwhile, that shooting thing has been a problem all preseason. The Lakers, who were a low volume, high success 3-point team last year, are trying to keep the success and raise the volume. Thus far, it hasn't worked. Tuesday, they were 11-40. Redick likes the 40, but it's clearly going to take a little time before the Lakers are fully comfortable tilting the offense to find seven or eight more 3's a night. So far, there's a lid on the basket.

On the bright side, the Rui Hachimura Preseason of Rebounding continued Tuesday. Rui snagged nine boards, another in a string of good rebounding games for the perpetually under-rebounding forward. If this held into the season, it would make a significant difference for the Lakers.
