In this episode we’re talking to Judge Shannon Frison of the Massachusetts Superior Court. Judge Frison had a lot to share with us about her journey. From the importance of focusing on the merit of your work and being the best at what you do with integrity, to the significance of not holding back when you're young if you know what you want.

Judge Frison takes us from law school, to the Marine Corps, to the judicial bench and how her desire to serve and do something that she was both good at and passionate about fueled so many of her pursuits.

When asked what she'd tell her younger self Judge Frison said:

“ Think less about what people think of you. And move even faster because life is short and whatever it is you're aiming to do while you're on this planet, you gotta get to doing it early. And you don't know all your steps. So nothing is really too early. I think particularly talking to myself as a young black student, I would definitely say, don't hold yourself back thinking that you've got to take baby steps. You don't really have to do baby steps in your career, Shoot high.”

I hope you'll find something here to support you on your journey as she shares what she'd tell herself from where she is today.

I also want to acknowledge that my perspective is one of privilege as a cis, hetero, white woman. While I make every effort to ensure I'm well informed beyond my bubble - I will make mistakes. It is never my intention to harm, and always my intention to repair and learn from mistakes I've made. While sometimes our mistakes are obvious, others need to be pointed out so that we can see and learn from them. I welcome your feedback on these issues and promise to do my best to be respectful, receptive and to continue learning from you.
