Kim Curtis is the bestselling author of “Money Secrets: Keys to Smart Investing” and “Retirement Secrets”. She is a nationally recognized wealth management advisor and President and CEO of Wealth Legacy Institute. Her groundbreaking work in developing a highly personal client-centric planning model was recognized in the Journal of Practical Estate Planning, winning the Editor’s Choice award. She has been profiled in several publications including the Wall Street Journal. Kim has attained numerous professional designations and been recognized by the financial planning industry as having achieved the highest level of competence and expertise.

Kim has an exciting story to share. She grew up in a small, rural farming community in upstate New York. One day when she was fourteen, her parents told her two sisters and Kim they were getting divorced, and her mother would gain full custody. They were poor and she received government-assisted school lunches. That red ticket was a measurement, a standard of comparison. It set her apart at school, made her feel less deserving, and was the beginning of my anxiety around the scarcity of money. Her money story is pretty fascinating.

This is a rebroadcast of episode 172. Originally aired June 6, 2023.
