Hey everyone, it’s Jim here! I'm thrilled to introduce a new series within Get On Track called Chasing Tenths. Inspired by the podcast Chasing Scratch, this series is about my journey—and that of a few friends—toward incremental improvement in amateur road racing, where we push ourselves to shave off fractions of a second, or "tenths." In racing, just like in life, it's all about those tiny gains that eventually make a big difference.

In this episode, I dive into what Chasing Tenths means, the challenges of moving from endurance to sprint racing, and my goals for this weekend's sprint race at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). I also share what you can expect from upcoming episodes, including guest appearances by friends, seasoned drivers, and coaches who’ll share their own stories of improvement on and off the track. Whether you're a race fan or just someone chasing your own goals, I hope you’ll enjoy following along with us on this journey.

In this episode, you’ll hear about:

  • What Chasing Tenths is and why it’s my new passion project.
  • My transition from endurance racing to my first sprint race with NASA at VIR.
  • The thrill and challenge of consistently shaving down lap times by tenths of a second.
  • The types of guests I’ll have on the show, from amateur racers to experienced pros, and the insights they’ll bring.
  • How small, steady improvements in racing parallel our pursuit of any meaningful skill in life.

Follow and Review:
