Getting past criticism is an important skill that can really change your path, whether you're just starting out or have been on this path for a while.

Then what does criticism really mean? Basically, it's feedback or opinion about different parts of your work, thoughts, or performance. This useful feedback can come from many places, such as your clients, coworkers, or even friendly competitors.

In this episode, Dana and Sara talk with Samantha, who is a qualified music therapist and educator, dedicated to helping parents, children, and adults develop emotional awareness, social skills, and effective coping strategies.

In this episode, listen for:

  • How can we differentiate between constructive criticism and unhelpful negativity

  • How can we effectively respond to constructive criticism

  • Addressing the emotional feelings when we are faced with constructive criticism

About Samantha:

Samantha’s mission is to strengthen, guide, and empower parents, children, and adults to develop emotional awareness, improve social skills, and gain effective coping skills resulting in improved peer relationships, increased family harmony, and a calmer & more relaxed demeanor. She is a board-certified music therapist, a Positive Discipline Parent Educator, and a registered Music Together teacher. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University and completed her Master of Music with a specialization in Music Therapy degree from Colorado State University. She is a Neurological Music Therapy Fellow and a Dialectical Behavior Therapy-informed Music Therapist. When she is not working, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and extended family. They enjoy fishing, camping, and other outdoor adventures.
