Bluebird by Charles Bukowski
Manage episode 401978091 series 3277184
Certain poems have the power to touch our hearts at the most opportune moments. "Bluebird," a deeply personal poem by Charles Bukowski, did exactly that for me. Bukowski is a fascinating character; he captures my curiosity. However, based on what friends who've delved deeper into his gritty, alcohol-drenched universe have told me, I suspect I might not be too fond of him if I were to learn more about him. Hence, I've decided to maintain some distance for the time being.
Yet, even from afar, his work can still evoke a profound emotional response from me. "Bluebird," in particular, has consistently moved me to the point of tears. The raw, poignant honesty that seems to echo from the depths of his being, presented so vulnerably on the page, makes it impossible for me to maintain any façade of stoicism.
