In today's special episode, we're reaching out to our friends around the world, especially the English-speaking Chinese diaspora. We're going to introduce you to four Taiwanese bands that you absolutely shouldn't miss. Plus, we'll recommend a Taiwanese movie and a TV show that will give you a deeper understanding of this diverse and complex country. And yes, we just called it a country. Taiwanese Bands:

1. Sunset Rollercoaster: Hailing from Taipei, Sunset Rollercoaster is a genre-blending sensation. Their romantic pop is infused with elements of soul, R&B, American rock, and Japanese city pop. Songs like "I Know You Know I Love You," "My Jinji," and their collaboration with Korean musician Ohhyuk, "Candlelight," have garnered over 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Fun fact: They performed at this year's Coachella Music Festival, marking the first time in 33 years that a Taiwanese band graced the festival stage.
2. EggPlantEgg: Holo music is making a comeback in Taiwan, and EggPlantEgg is at the forefront. Holo, also known as Taiwanese, is the language of the country's largest ethnic group. EggPlantEgg's music pays tribute to and modernizes the genre's soulful indie rock traditions. Must-listen tracks include "閣愛妳一擺 Love You One More Time," "浪子回頭 Back Here Again," and "浪流連 Waves Wandering."
3. Matzka: Prepare to be blown away by Matzka, a unique Taiwanese-style Reggae band with indigenous members from the Paiwan tribe in Taitung. Matzka's frontman, Matzka himself, discovered Reggae music quite serendipitously. Their songs like "嗚哇嗚," "哎一," and "e e a puluvat" create the perfect backdrop for chilling under a coconut tree on Taitung's breathtaking seashore.
4. Nine One One: If you want to impress your Taiwanese friends and dive deep into our music culture, "Nine One One" is the Taiwanese hip-hop group to explore. Originating from Taichung, this group formed on September 11, 2009. Their rap hit "鄉下來的" can be heard in nightclubs, and their song "明天再擱來" is a karaoke chart-topper. Keep an ear out for their catchy tunes, especially in taxi rides.
