31: How scoutmaster Mike Lanning’s early influences have helped him raise generations of young leaders and why girls are now benefiting

My guest today is Mike Lanning, an attorney and scoutmaster extraordinaire!
Mike is the Scoutmaster at Troop 223 in the Pacific Palisades, a suburb of Los Angeles where he has been Scoutmaster since 1953. Mike is an Eagle Scout himself and has received numerous scouting awards including Distinguished Eagle and Scoutmaster of the Year. This past year Mike was recognized as Citizen of the Year in the Pacific Palisades for his nearly 70 years of dedication to helping raise generations of ethical young people.
Mike and his wife Carol have three children, six grandchildren and six great-grandsons.
In this episode Mike takes us down memory lane, and tells us how he learned about money, independence and scouting as a young boy. He reminisces about the mentors and influences in his youth, and the money lessons that have served him throughout his life.
