Dr. Fernando Torres-Gil introduces us to the political, intergenerational and diversity trends that will affect the future of aging. The number of Americans ages 65 and older will more than double over the next 40 years, reaching 80 million in 2040. As we are living longer, an examination of important public policy issues – from labor to healthcare and housing – require fresh perspectives and reframing.
Dr Torres-Gil is one of panel of high level experts presenting at the “first-ever” gathering on age-related topics hosted by UCLA Extension. Dr. Torres-Gil served under Presidents Carter, Clinton and Obama on aging policy. Dr. Torres-Gil is Director of the UCLA Center for Policy Research on Aging.
What will be the impact of a large 65+ group have on the workforce , Social Security, future elections and new legislation, geroscience and Alzheimer’s breakthroughs, caregiving, the global economy, and the results of a now-mostly vaccinated older population on future health care, and many other topics.
