Dana S. Hubbard is a Writer, Director, and Producer and is currently celebrating more than 35 years in the entertainment industry. His theatrical and film record includes alongside award-winning directors and producers, such as Spike Lee, Denzel Washington, Monty Ross, David E. Talbert, Tyler Perry, and Dr. Alex C. Marshall. Dana has been labeled by his peers as a “Renaissance Man,” due to his commitment to continued expansion of his brand and expertise in a wide range of fields.
Dana majored in Speech Communication and Theater Arts at the prestigious Hampton University and graduated with Honors. While at Hampton University, he starred in several theatrical productions. His talents won him the Best Dramatic Duo Award from the National Association of Dramatic and Speech Arts for two consecutive years and a nomination for the prestigious Irene Ryan Award. After touring with the Richmond Theatre Company for Children, Dana found his way back to his native ground, New York City, after being selected to work with Spike Lee on his critically- acclaimed film “Do The Right Thing.” Other film credits include “Mo Better Blues,” “Steppin,” “Don't Let Your Meat Loaf,” and “Malcolm X,” where he was featured as one of Malcolm's key Fruit of Islam.
To date, Dana has several music videos, films, and theatrical productions, including “Will A Man Rob God?” and “Every Dog Has His Day”, a stage play based on his debut novel. His first feature film, “A Woman Like That,” starring Tyra Banks, John Amos, and Malik Yoba won first place for Best Dramatic Feature at the Urban World Film Festival. In 1988, Dana founded and launched Camp D.A.N.A (Dreams Always Need Assistance). The mission of this week-long summer camp is to broaden and enhance the interest in arts and entertainment. Facilitated by industry professionals, the courses and workshops teach the nuts and bolts of filmmaking and theatrical production. By partnering with affiliate organizations, the camp provides students with unique internship opportunities. Former campers have gone on to work with the likes of Viacom/MTV Networks, WBNA, Martha Stewart, Inc, and other independent entities.
Dana is the proud father of six sons and one daughter. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
