Hosted by award-winning director and longtime Winchester brand ambassador and storyteller Jason Brown, the “WinLife Pod” looks at the many aspects of what makes the Winchester brand so legendary and dives into the stories, the technology and the lifestyle associated with hunting and the shooting sports. With a list of incredible guests, the “WinLife Pod” discusses everything from deer camps to rabbit dogs, the Olympics to the backcountry or ammo innovation to wildlife art. This podcast reminds our listeners why living the hunting and shooting lifestyle means so much and reinforces the importance of passing that celebrated tradition on to the next generation. In the landscape of podcasting, a very small collective of voices come from actual brands, and less than that come from brands that are legendary pillars in American culture like Winchester. As a show that focuses on the intersection of tradition and innovation, each episode will uncover the culture and craftsmanship that has defined an entire ammunition industry for generations. Winchester literally has built a lifestyle. Through insider access to industry pioneers, first hand looks at cutting-edge tech advancements, and the stories behind the scenes that shape the world of shooting sports and hunting as we know it, the WinLife Pod will dive as much into sacred places like deer camps and duck blinds as it will innovation round tables and shooting tips from the world’s best, while also harkening back to the past, revisiting age old traditions of hunting and shooting still alive and well in our country. We’ll talk about the past, the present and explore some of the innovators who have paved the way in the outdoor industry. A blend of Paul Harvey, Joe Rogan and Guy Raz…so to speak. It’s as much story time as it is tech talk, and in a podcast world oversaturated with divisive, meaningless opinions, the Winchester Life Podcast will engage by using its deep rolodex of industry titans in the hunting and shooting sports world they have literally pioneered. It’s a rare blend from a 158-year authority.

It’s 1989 and the outdoor industry was on the presuppose of exploding. A turf war of sorts was being waged between camouflage companies and record numbers of VHS hunting tapes were being distributed across the country to a rapidly growing contingent of hunters. In the middle of it all was a young Mark Drury, still in college and winning turkey calling contests at the state and national level at a rapid rate. In a stroke of luck that would forever change his life, through a crowded show floor, young entrepreneur Toxey Haas sought out a conversation with Mark, just minutes after winning another turkey calling competition. A lifelong friendship was forged and the rest is history. Since that day 35 years has passed, and the loyalty to Mossy Oak has never wavered. Early mentors like Will Primos and Cuz Strickland would help light the fire for Mark and his brother Terry as they entered the world of video production…where they have since released well over 125 titles that now reside in their library. Now one of the most accomplished and knowledgable whitetail deer hunters in America, Mark began to build that legacy in 1998 when he closed the deal on the largest free-range buck ever taken on film at the time. In 2019 Drury Outdoors was inducted to the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, further cementing their place as innovators in outdoor media as producers and personalities. Mark’s determination to build a business and career in the outdoor space, paired with an unrivaled work ethic has lead his company to being at the forefront of the multi-billion dollar industry he helped build.…

For almost 160 years, Winchester has been part of the American culture…and for a better part of the last two decades, Jason Brown, Chris Keefer and Casey Keefer have been behind the scenes helping spearhead how visual storytelling of Winchester Ammunition’s most groundbreaking products, and the people who use them, will reach the masses. From short films to commercials, television episodes to brand campaigns all the way to documenting high speed bullet ballistics gel testing, the trio has made it a priority as a production team and show hosts to be a part of one of the most innovative and iconic brands in the outdoor industry. In this episode, the guys will talk about some of the most memorable projects they’ve been a part of with Winchester, behind the camera and behind the barrel. Projects like the massive launch of Deer Season XP and Longboard XR, the field testing of 350 Legend in Kansas and being part of a secret deer camp in Missouri as the first ever to hunt with 400 Legend. They’ll also talk about the unforgettable launch of the 6.8 Western and the locations they were lucky enough to chamber the game changing cartridge in. A mule deer camp out west in snowy Utah, chasing elk in the mountains of Colorado and whitetail deer camps in Kansas and Nebraska, they’ll talk about field-testing the 6.8 Western and the challenge the entire team had to maintain its secrecy. Jason, Chris and Casey will also discuss how the Winchester brand has played a key role in the success in their own brands like Dropped and the Keefer Brothers in some of the most rugged and remote places they’ve ever been. Finally, they’ll talk about the preparation as a production team to make sure these stories are documented to perfection, and how it feels to be some of the very first people to learn about Winchester’s new products and technology months before the rest of the world.…

For nearly two decades, Melissa Bachman has been the standard. Entering the outdoor industry landscape at its peak in 2006, Melissa had her sights set on the big things…and in her own words “I just wanted to hunt every day”. Before that, she was a girl from Minnesota who grew up in the outdoors with a family who embraced the hunting lifestyle, so much so that during her high school years her parents would sign a work permit so she could start school after her morning hunts. With a dogged mindset and determination that would later in her career power her up mountains, Melissa broke through first as a camera operator and editor for North American Hunter. In 2010, Melissa founded her own production company, Deadly Passions Productions, where she would launch the self-produced and hosted Winchester’s Deadly Passions television series to millions. Hunting everything from gobblers to mountain goats, Melissa quickly became known for her grit and determination, her authenticity and deep knowledge of the hunting and shooting sports, but the road wasn’t always smooth. In 2012 and 2013 Melissa faced national criticism from the anti-hunting community for her hunting lifestyle that would ultimately eliminate her from an opportunity to participate as a contestant on NatGeo’s Ultimate Survival Alaska. A year later, an African hunt drew more anti-hunting outrage. Just bumps in the road, Melissa stood tall for her hunting heritage and continued to lean in and carve her path forward in the industry. As a longtime Team Winchester ambassador of 15 years, Melissa most recently received the Winchester Legend Award for her commitment as a mentor and role model for hunters and sport shooters worldwide through her published articles, television series and local outreach. An award-winning host, a business owner, a producer, editor, writer and cinematographer, Melissa has been all over the world telling stories and is truly a unicorn in the outdoor industry.…
On this inaugural first episode of the Winchester Life Podcast, host Jason Brown will dive into how his roots of growing up in a small Northern Michigan town laid the groundwork for a career in the outdoors as a media personality, writer, executive producer and business owner and discuss how the 15-year relationship with Winchester originally got started. He’ll discuss what living a Winchester Life means to him and how a 160-year-old brand continues to innovate like never before while leading the way in the hunting and shooting sports. Finally, he’ll wrap up with a quick look into the future and what makes a perfect guest for the Winchester Life Podcast.…
