Episode Description: Jessica B. Harris may have been born and raised in New York City, but she has Tennessee roots through her father and has spent much of her life split between homes in the Northeast and the South – specifically New Orleans. For more than fifty years, she has been a college professor, a writer, and a lecturer, and her many books have earned her a reputation as an authority on food of the African Diaspora, as well as a lifetime achievement award from the James Beard Foundation. A few years back, Netflix adapted her book, High on the Hog: A Culinary Journey from Africa to America , into a 4 part docuseries. And I’m very proud to say that she’s a longtime contributor to Southern Living with a regular column called The Welcome Table. This episode was recorded in the Southern Living Birmingham studios, and Sid and Jessica talked about her mother’s signature mac and cheese, the cast-iron skillet she’d be sure to save if ever her house were on fire, and her dear friend, the late New Orleans chef Leah Chase. The excerpt instructs the reader to repeatedly affirm their desires, particularly financial goals, with strong feeling and belief, thereby creating thought habits conducive to achieving them. This process, requiring persistence and concentration, is presented as the key to mastering one's destiny by controlling the subconscious mind and accessing "Infinite Intelligence" to devise plans for success.…

The provided episode from Think and Grow Rich chapter three, "Faith Visualization of, and Belief in Attainment of Desire," posits that faith is a crucial mental state for achieving wealth. It argues that faith, combined with positive emotions like love and sex, can influence the subconscious mind and connect with "Infinite Intelligence". The chapter explains that faith can be developed through autosuggestion, the repeated affirmation of desires to the subconscious. To illustrate this principle, the text details the story of Charles M. The provided episode from "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill emphasizes that a burning desire is the essential starting point for all achievement, illustrating this principle through anecdotes like Edwin C. Barnes' relentless pursuit of a partnership with Thomas Edison. The text further explains that this intense desire must be coupled with a definite purpose, a clear plan of action, and unwavering persistence to overcome obstacles, using examples such as the rebuilding of a store after the Chicago fire and the determination to ensure the author's son, born without ears, would hear and speak. The excerpt outlines six practical steps to transmute the desire for riches into reality and highlights the power of belief and the ability of practical dreamers to shape the world. Ultimately, the text argues that a strong, unwavering desire, when combined with faith and a refusal to accept limitations, can lead to extraordinary success even in the face of significant adversity.…

It argues that perceived failures often contain the seeds of future benefits, urging readers to adopt a forward-looking perspective. The author illustrates this with personal anecdotes and examples of successful individuals who transcended setbacks by focusing on their goals and avoiding the trap of dwelling on past disappointments. Furthermore, the text explores the connection between wealth and peace of mind, suggesting that while sufficient resources are important, they are best attained and enjoyed through honest effort and a mindset free from malice and regret. Ultimately, the work advocates for proactive self-improvement through extra effort and a positive mental attitude, achieved by consciously "closing the doors" on the hindering aspects of the past.…
Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, specifically Chapter 1, emphasizes the crucial first step towards success: understanding and controlling one's own mind. Quezon, showcasing how overcoming external opinions and adversities with self-belief leads to great achievements.
