Complements and criticisms are both very hard to accept. I think that at a very young age women learn to minimize their complements and exacerbate their criticisms. Even some of the most powerful and talented women struggle with these two words. It's time we unlearn those behaviors and leverage the compliments and criticisms to work in our favor.…

People are going to be happy with your choices. People are going to be mad about your decisions. Do what you need to do for yourself anyway. You are the longest relationship you will ever be in. Make sure you are making decisions based on that fact. Yes, we have family, children, partners, friends, and other relationships. But the truth is at any moment, those relationships could end. The fact that you are considerate of other and have their feelings on your heart says that you are a good person. #PeaceOfMind #DoItAnyway #treeshakerpodcast…

What is a chance encounter? Is it fate? A chance encounter can change the entire direction in life and the experience at that very moment changed everything. Give yourself permission to take advantage of a chance encounter and don't let it be a missed opportunity. #Fate #Opportunity
The history of the American Association of University Women mirrors the progress of women in the United States. As the number of women graduating from college grew, so did our membership. AAUW's advocacy efforts have propelled countless new laws, including the Equal Pay Act, first proposed in 1945 and finally passed in 1963; the Title IX amendment in 1972; the Family and Medical Leave Act in 1993; the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act in 2009; and the Paycheck Fairness Act, which was passed by the U.S. Representatives in 2019 but is awaiting action in the Senate. #EqualPay #WomensRights #AAUW…

Resiliency is is learned and earned. If you have never faced obstacles you don’t know how to novitiate them. Once you manage them you are better prepared for the next obstacle. Don’t compare your obstacles to what someone else is dealing with. My “much” is different from your “much”.

Resilience is not about gritting your teeth and getting through or sucking it up. Resilience is about honoring our need to ask for and receive help. It is important to remember that you are not going it alone. There is always someone who can help and there is always hope. ~ Dr. Mollie Marti , founder, and President, National Resilience Institute To be emotionally resilient is the ability to bounce back. But that’s not all. Before this word applied to people, it was a mechanical definition. In an old dictionary from 1950, it means: returning to or resuming the original position or shape. Mech. (that means mechanical) capable of withstanding shock without permanent deformation or rupture. In an older dictionary from 1940, resilient isn’t even a word that stands alone. Modern definitions immediately apply resiliency as a quality people possess to recover quickly from difficulty, crisis, stress, and hardship. Resiliency is a psychological strength to cope instead of falling apart. People with strong resiliency can maintain their cool even in disastrous situations. It doesn’t mean they don’t feel the stress, they simply have the means to handle it instead of running from it or emotionally shutting down.…
