Label: WB 29974 Year: 1982 Condition: M Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. The A side is one of the best hits of the neo-Rockabilly wave that swept the U.S. and England in the early 1980's. With his note-perfect first album and great songwriting (produced by Richard Gottehrer, who served up so much great rock'n'roll froth in the 1960's with such acts as the Angels and McCoys), Crenshaw seemed like a new Buddy Holly. The non-LP B side, which Bette Midler later took up the charts, is credited to 'Marshall Crenshaw and the Handsome, Ruthless and Stupid Band.' Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Warner/Reprise Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).…

Label: Reprise 20202 Year: 1963 Condition: M- Price: $25.00 Nitzsche arranged many of Phil Spector's biggest hits on Philles. Here he stepped out and made a masterpiece under his own name... simply divine! This is one of the nicest copies I've yet had for sale since opening in 2001. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Reprise Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels. The vinyl (styrene) looks Near Mint with a few light scuffs, and the audio is very close to Mint.…

Label: ABC 11272 Year: 1970 Condition: M- Price: $18.00 This, the group's first single to crack the Hot 100, was a new version of Funk #48, which they released the previous year on Bluesway. Both are to-die-for classics of guitar rock, showcases for Joe Walsh. On this pressing, the title is spelled "Funk No. 49" rather than "Funk #49." Though not mentioned on the label, the Mono-mix 45 has a superior, edited version of a longer album track (the 45 edit is about 30 seconds shorter). Note: This copy comes in a vintage ABC Records factory sleeve.…

Label: RCA 0876 Year: 1973 Condition: M- Last Price: $25.00. Not currently available for sale. Most people born after 1980 assume that Nirvana wrote the classic "Man Who Sold The World," and they certainly did record an impressive version of it. In fact, the song fit so well with the grunge sound and modern rock in general that the mistake of youth is understandable. However, you've got to hear the original version by the song's author to appreciate it fully. Note that this release has the 5:05 version of "Space Oddity," which became Bowie's first top 40 hit in the U.S. This is a beautiful copy of both the vinyl record and its original picture sleeve.…

Label: Atlantic 2820 Year: 1971 Condition: M- Price: $12.00 What a surprisingly great single! The A side is Stills at his power-poppy best with an absolutely great top 40 hit (though it didn't actually make it there), and the B side is a funky-country-bluesy-Hendrixy workout that's irresistable! Shows how much great stuff you can fit on a little 45 when you really try. :-) The A side, incidentally, features Nils Lofgren and Eric Clapton joining Stills on guitars. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Atlantic Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and Near Mint vinyl and audio.…

Label: RCA 9140 Year: 1967 Condition: M Price: $25.00 Everybody knows and loves the A side of this great single, but the B side is a 2-star destination in its own right! It's an amazing amalgam of Bo Diddley, Beatles, and psychedelia all stirred up into an exciting thrill ride that's uniquely Jefferson Airplane. Now, exactly what her funny cars are and what's so funny about them is a secret the band keeps to themselves. But hey, the words sound great anyway! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve. It has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).…

Label: Immediate 501 Year: 1967 Condition: M- Last Price: $20.00. Not currently available for sale. This 1967 hit is a classic of the pop/psych genre, and succeeds in being closely Beatlesque. It was the first U.K. record to feature the new "flanging" effect. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Immediate Records factory sleeve. It has very nearly Mint labels and audio, despite some notable scuffing on the vinyl.…

Label: Coral 62558 Year: 1969 Condition: M Price: $60.00 This is a beautiful Mint copy of a single released in 1969 to commemorate Buddy Holly's untimely 1959 death, along with its striking picture sleeve. I had first heard this lovely version many years ago on a U.K.-released double album set Buddy Holly: Legend . The liner notes to that album describe the track as follows: "Love Is Strange" was one of Buddy's favorite songs. The version he recorded was around a minute long and the track included here has been "stretched" by splicing and re-recording the original tape. Norman Petty's later treatment of the recording, adding organ sounds to create the impression of strings, probably comes fairly close to Buddy's own ideas for the song. As for the B side, this rarity was cowritten with Waylon Jennings and not released until well after Holly's death. Among other places, it appeared on the B side of U.K. single in 1964. Upon hearing it, I knew I'd heard it before and after wracking my brain for awhile, I remembered that it was a version by the neo-Rockabilly singer/songwriter Billy Swan released in 1976 that was in my head. Other than that, I haven't heard any other versions, though it's indubitably hit material! Note: The 45 itself has Mint labels. The vinyl looks untouched, and the audio sounds pristine. The great picture sleeve is nearly flawless!…

Label: Wand 11215 Year: 1970 Condition: M- Price: $30.00 Both sides of this obscure 1970 Soul single are top-notch keepers! The A side features some surprising, catchy rhythms that'll definitely keep your feet moving, and the B side has become a favorite... quite special. Listen to the MP3 snippet we've added to the "jukebox" to see if you agree. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Wand Records factory sleeve. Both sides of this styrene pressing have pristine mint audio.…

Label: Columbia 05570 Year: 1985 Condition: M- Last Price: $10.00. Not currently available for sale. Credited to Nick Lowe and His Cowboy Outfit. Considering all the great singles Nick Lowe released during the late 1970's through the 1980's, it's incredible to realize that this is one of only two that actually hit the American Hot 100. Note that this one found Lowe on the other end of the producer's gun: Lowe let Huey Lewis do the production honors! The A side is specially edited from a 4:25 album track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Columbia Records factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint audio.…

Label: Elektra 45297 Year: 1976 Condition: M- Last Price: $20.00. Not currently available for sale. This was the group's first big hit in the U.S. An oddly compelling song, I shudder at the thought that I might actually like it... and then realize that teenagers are rediscovering Queen, and this song is a cult hit all over again. Still, there's no argument that the flip side is a must-have glam-era rocker. Even if you can't stand "Mama Mia!" and so on, you gotta love "The machine of a dream?"... Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" of it! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Elektra/Asylum Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels, and the Vinyl looks almost untouched. The audio grades close to Mint, but on the A side there is a faint touch of underlying surface noise in the quiet segments.…

Label: WB 29746 Year: 1983 Condition: M Last Price: $12.00. Not currently available for sale. This is a terrific, specially edited cut from the 5:03 LP version, and it's this tune that ranks the highest of all the Prince singles in Dave Marsh's Top 1,001 Singles list. And as if the A side weren't reason enough to own this classic single, the B side is one of those super-special, non-LP cut offerings Prince managed to throw around for free on his 1980s singles. Note: This beautiful copy, on the tan label with horizontal lines, has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).…

Label: Dynamo 112 Year: 1967 Condition: M- Price: $20.00 A real sleeper, this great track sneaks up on you and demands that you recognize how great it is. Eventually, you do... and you're hooked! Take a listen and hear for yourself. Note: This beautiful pressing looks Near Mint and has pristine Mint sound. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)…

Label: Atlantic 2518 Year: 1968 Condition: M- Last Price: $25.00. Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of one of Aretha's very best -- and hardest-to-find -- singles. Note: This copy comes in a vintage Atlantic Records factory sleeve. It looks Near Mint, and the grooves preserve pristine Mint sound... a real treat! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)…

Label: Chrysalis 2029 Year: 1974 Condition: M- Price: $20.00 Absolutely incredible hard rock instrumentals led by drummer Powell. Powell did drumming duties for groups as varied as Jeff Beck, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Emerson Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath. After listening to the snippet of the excellent B side, just imagine how great the A side is! By the way, this single was a non-album cut: There was no Cozy Powell LP released in the mid-1970s. Note: This beautiful copy has very Mint labels, with pristine audio on the A-side.…

Label: Columbia 74197 Year: 1992 Condition: M Price: $12.00 From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original Columbia factory sleeve. Kris Kross were a rap duo from Atlanta -- Chris "Mack Daddy" Kelly and Chris "Daddy Mack" Smith. They were 14 and 15 when this catchy track was recorded. The A side is a "Radio Edit" of the 3:15 LP cut. The song isn't shorter than the LP cut, so the "Radio Edit" label must indicate a remix. Note: This beautiful 45 has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio)!…

Label: Profile 5084 Year: 1986 Condition: M- Last Price: $9.00. Not currently available for sale. Essential mid-1980s techno dance pop, served up with a dollop of quirky humor. Flip is an instrumental version. This 45 has a dramatically edited version of the 6:05 album track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Profile Records factory sleeve. It looks Near Mint and has pristine Mint sound!…

Label: U.A. 370 Year: 1961 Condition: M- Price: $15.00 One of my all-time favorite Folk numbers, this song has been recorded many times over the years -- including at least two off the top of my head, by the Beach Boys and by CCR. This is one of the nicest stock copies I've yet had in the store since opening in 2001! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage United Artists Records factory sleeve. The labels grade very close to Mint, and the audio sounds almost flawless! The vinyl (styrene) has notable scuffing. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)…

Label: Hear 21053 Year: 2008 Condition: M Last Price: $12.00. Not currently available for sale. This release highlights two tracks from Mellencamp's 2008 album, "Life Death Love and Freedom." The A side is simply one of the best rockabilly numbers Mellencamp has ever done! From what I can determine, this single was not released for general distribution, but rather was available as a special promo 7-inch only. This is only the fourth copy I've managed to get my hands on...…

Label: Phil. Int'l. 3614 Year: 1977 Condition: M- Price: $14.00 This terrific Philly-style dance number was Carn's first chart single and became one of her biggest and most enduring hits. It's specially edited from a 4:11 album track. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Philadelphia Int'l Records factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint sound.…

Label: Double Shot 104 Year: 1966 Condition: M- Price: $25.00 This is one of the essential singles in the history of Psychedelic Rock. The flip is terrific too... I wonder how they got so paranoid? This is a first pressing, with the label name at the top of the label. Note: This beautiful copy has Near Mint labels with a touch of wear. The vinyl (styrene) looks Near Mint with a few scuffs, and the audio sounds pristine Mint! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)…

Label: Dimension 1013 Year: 1963 Condition: M- Price: $30.00 Not one of Little Eva's big hits, but definitely a worthy destination for fans of Girl Group Rock... check out the mp3 "snippet" I've posted for the A side. Note: This beautiful copy has Near Mint labels, with a small abrasion on the A side. The vinyl and audio grade Near Mint ... the A side audio is pristine!…

Label: Satellite 107 Year: 1961 Condition: M- Price: $40.00 One of the greatest soul instrumentals of all time -- two incredible sides of a new sound that would eventually be labeled "funky soul." Satellite, by the way, shortly changed its name to Stax ... and the rest is history! Note: This beautiful copy has Near Mint labels, a real rarity for this release. The vinyl has some light scuffs, grading a strong EX, while the grooves preserve strong, Near Mint sound.…
