Since the late 90s, maintenance team leaders have struggled to make their teams more efficient and “World Class.” Root Cause Analysis is essential to understand when and why these inefficiencies began. Leaders need to change their mindset about where to find future maintenance associates, focusing on the MT (Maintenance Team) Factors: MT Factor #1: The Generational Shift Shift in mindset about future careers. Decline in blue-collar workers with hands-on skills. Generational shift from outdoor activities to indoor, tech-focused activities. MT Factor #2: The Demographic Shift Overall focus on careers in IT, law, medicine, and engineering. Discontinuation of high school shop classes has created a skills gap. Geographic location affects the availability of maintenance-oriented individuals. Family unit changes and educational system failures have impacted skill development. Speaker: Gary Woods, Fluke Customer Success Manager Gary has dedicated 34 years to working with CMMS systems and building World Class Maintenance Teams. Maintaining assets in a cost-effective manner is essential to a company's profitability. To effectively and efficiently execute an Asset Management (Maintenance & Reliability - M&R) Strategy, an organization should have an effective Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The CMMS is the system of record that provides well organized and accurate data for continuous improvement. Effective utilization and execution of the three main elements of an Asset Management Strategy (Work Management, Asset Strategies, and Defect Elimination) requires accurate data and history in the CMMS. To do this, an organization must make the investment of effort to collect necessary data to create and possess an accurate Equipment Register. This investment provides an organization with agreed-to and standardized definitions, designs, processes, and guidelines for building the sub-elements of the Equipment Register which include a Master Equipment List (MEL), Equipment or Asset Hierarchy, and Master Data. Master Data is the foundation of Asset Management. It is a starting point for continuous improvement. This presentation will highlight the reasons for effective data collection and the do's and don't's associated with capturing good data in your CMMS in to allow for effective Asset Management. Speaker: Blake A. Baca, CMRP, CRL - Owner/Asset Management Coach, BDB Solutions LLC Asset Management professional with over 35 years of experience in industries including mining, refining, smelting, oil & gas, power generation, foundry, manufacturing, and material processing. Most CMMS systems by nature are neither intuitive nor simple to understand. Here is where the adoption of a “best practice” CMMS Implementation methodology can be worth its weight in gold by ensuring the fundamental 3 C’s (consensus with clarity and certainty) are instrumental in the decisions you are making. This is definitely a great place to say the old adage, “you don’t know what you don’t know”. This is also a great place to be sure you are aligned with your organizations adopted maintenance Best Practices. Speaker: Gregory Perry, eMCP, CMRP, CRL Proudly serving as a Sr. Capacity Assurance Consultant for Fluke Reliability, a suite of IIoT centric solutions from Fluke Corp. with more than 25 years’ experience in Maintenance & Operational best practices. Discussing the real return on investment of properly aligning rotating equipment. As there is a renewed focus on reliability and vibration monitoring, I focus on a root cause. An often-quoted comment is “...why align a machine when it is fitted with a flexible coupling designed to accommodate misalignment?” I will talk about why this one often overlooked step in machinery maintenance is so important. The real payoff is often larger than you can imagine. Todays Laser alignment systems offer precision that is easy to learn and use giving the younger workforce the ability to replace old methods that are lost with an aging workforce. Speaker: David Metz, Sales Application Manager, Alignment Solutions Dave is the Sales Application Manager at Fluke for Prüftechnik alignment products. He has been with Prüftechnik for 7 years and before that he spent 31 years as a machinist at Exelon working exclusively in power generation. Early years were in Fossil and Hydro units then six years in their mobile turbine gang working on all size and types of steam turbines. For the last half he was stationed at Limerick Nuclear power station and traveled to other stations for outage work, Peach Bottom, Oyster Creek, Three Mile Island and even Hope Creek. Dave spent most of his time working as a millwright in the plant working on equipment and has a lot of experience performing alignments on all types of machines. His alignment expertise began by mastering dial indicator methods then using Prüftechnik laser tools beginning with the original Optalign then all of the newer models up to todays Rotalign. ► Register for an upcoming webinar here: https://flukereliability.info/bpw-frr…

Reliability and Operations teams have always struggled with a repeatable process for defining criticality for maintenance spare parts. It is often too easy to make everything critical and often entails a binary method of "yes/no" or "true/false." Most criticality review processes are static (one and done) and are not revisited nor adjusted with changing business climates. Untrusted, outdated criticality reviews, if any, lead to treating everything as critical which leads to surplus which ultimately becomes obsolete... aka wasted capital. Speaker: Jeremiah Woodford, CRO IFS Assets Jeremiah is a native Texan whose first job out of high school was as a roughneck on the oldest drillship for Diamond offshore. After finishing his computer science degree, he focused his career on asset and maintenance technologies for the asset-intensive industries. For the last 15 years, he has supported clients such as ExxonMobil, DOW Chemical, BP, BHP, PETRONAS, ADNOC, PDO, Total Energies, TC Energy, and many other clients in asset-intensive industries to transform their MRO and drive significant improvements in the spare parts planning processes. ► Register for an upcoming webinar here: https://flukereliability.info/bpw-frr…

In my experience, there are three major influences on culture: Individual team members – Do they work together? Do they feel their voice is heard? Do they enjoy going to work every day? Supervision / management – Do they have an open door policy? Do they listen to employees? Are they willing to take acceptable risks with new ideas? Corporate – Are they driven by only the bottom line? Do they provide too much oversight? Easy efforts to improve the culture positively include ensuring that corporate, plant, department goals are clear, posted and understood, that communication occurs frequently at all levels, and that appropriate personnel are involved at the right level for decision making. 1 Motion Amplification® and its rapid evolution for the reliability and maintenance professional 58:27
Motion Amplification is a rapidly evolving technology that is being utilized more and more within maintenance and reliability programs. With new technology comes rapid evolution, new capabilities, and new use cases. In this presentation, we will cover new advances in the technology and how it is being leveraged for full field vibration. Advances include the ability to visualize frequency and phase across the entire video in a single image, visualize and measure thermal growth, and new advanced techniques to measure shaft dynamics while undergoing rotation. Motion Amplification will also be discussed in the context of continuous monitoring and how a camera can be used for measuring vibration across multiple locations in an image with full trending and historization capabilities. Case studies will be presented on Motion Amplification highlighting new advancements and how it has been utilized to solve real problems along with strategies used to deploy Motion Amplification as a new tool in the reliability toolbox. Motion Amplification is a proprietary video processing technique that detects subtle displacement and then converts that movement to a level visible with the naked eye, enabling visualization of the movement. Each pixel becomes the equivalent of a displacement sensor allowing for full field vibration. Seeing how the machine is moving allows the source of most issues to become clear, allowing for effective root cause analysis as well as communication of the issue. The world is driven by data. MRO data (also known as indirect material data or material master data) is no exception. Asset intensive organizations continuously strive to be more efficient while being cost effective. MRO data remains one of the most untapped sources of savings for procurement, maintenance, and inventory departments within the manufacturing environment. Organizations find it challenging to leverage the potential MRO data savings because, for the most part, their data quality is poor. In order to initiate savings from your MRO data it must be consistent, accurate, and free of unnecessary duplication. Maximizing the value of your MRO data begins with the conversion of your legacy data to best in-class. The transformation of legacy data to quality data begins with a cleansing process. Data cleansing is performed to create an item master that is inclusive of defined categories, attribute enhancement, item level codification, and all the while absent of unnecessary duplication. Once your data is clean the journey doesn’t end. It is imperative that a quality data governance program be implemented to ensure you maintain the integrity of your MRO data…
