1 Dillon Gabriel’s 'Entertainers vs. Competitors' Quote + Bengals vs Commanders: Did We Learn Anything? 15:07
Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Dillon Gabriel's comments that went viral and the last night's preseason game in the NFL. During a preseason debut with the Cleveland Browns against the Philadelphia Eagles, rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel was asked how he handles outside distractions. In response, he said: “There are entertainers and there are competitors, and I totally understand that. My job is to compete. All you in this room are entertainers … I’m a competitor.” Many fans and media speculated Gabriel’s comment was a veiled criticism of fellow rookie Shedeur Sanders—who carries a high-profile image—implying Sanders was more entertainer than competitor. The public ripple grew when Stephen A. Smith called the remark "stupid" and "idiotic," even if it was aimed at the media. In the aftermath, Gabriel moved to clarify his intent publicly emphasizing the comment was not aimed at Sanders, but at the media—the “entertainers” he referenced were reporters and broadcasters. Was Gabriel talking about the media or Shedeur Sanders? The Cincinnati Bengals secured a 31–17 victory over the Washington Commanders in their Week 2 preseason matchup last night. Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss if the NCAA went too easy on Michigan. The Michigan Wolverines football program is currently facing the fallout from one of the most significant NCAA sanctions in recent memory. The NCAA has penalized the program for its involvement in a sign-stealing scheme, resulting in over $20M in financial consequences. These include a direct $50K fine, a 10% reduction in both the football program’s budget and scholarship funding, and the forfeiture of postseason revenue for the next two seasons. Additionally, Michigan will be on probation for four years, with a 25% reduction in official visits and a 14-week ban on recruiting communications. Despite these harsh penalties, the team avoided a postseason ban—something the NCAA chose to forgo in an effort to avoid punishing current student-athletes for past violations. Several individuals associated with the program have also been disciplined. Former head coach Jim Harbaugh, now with the Los Angeles Chargers, received a 10-year show-cause penalty, which will begin after a previous order expires in 2028. Current head coach Sherrone Moore has been suspended for three games during the 2025 season, two of which will occur early. In response, Michigan has announced it will appeal the NCAA’s ruling. Despite the chaos off the field, Michigan appears determined to stabilize and refocus its football program ahead of the 2025 campaign. Did the NCAA go too easy on Michigan?…
Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss what the Browns should do with their quarterback room. Dillon Gabriel, the Cleveland Browns’ third-round pick, made his NFL debut in Week 2 of the preseason, starting for the Cleveland Browns against the Philadelphia Eagles after recovering from a hamstring injury. He completed 13 of 18 passes for 143 yards and threw an interception that resulted in a pick-six. Despite some turnovers, his performance included efficient third-down conversions—going 6-of-6 for 51 yards—and showed promise in pressure situations, though he was also sacked twice. Gabriel is in a crowded QB room with Shedeur Sanders, Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Tyler Huntley, and the recovering Deshaun Watson. What should the Browns do with all these quarterbacks? Does Cleveland have a good team?…
Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss, Bryce Young, Dave Canales and the Carolina Panthers. The Carolina Panthers fell to the Houston Texans 20–3 in their Week 2 preseason game. Will Bryce Young have a good year this coming season? How will the Panthers fare in the NFC South? What does Dave Canales think?…
Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Bill Belichick, the UNC Tar Heels and Michigan football. Bill Belichick is the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heel football program. Reese, Pam and Alex discuss Caleb Williams' preseason performance and Dak Prescott not playing in the preseason. Where is Dak Prescott? Why hasn't he been playing in the preseason with the Dallas Cowboys? In his first preseason action under new head coach Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams completed 6 of 10 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown during the Bears’ dominant 38–0 win over the Bills. Despite flashes of improvement, Williams has struggled with consistency. Coach Johnson remains optimistic, attributing inconsistencies to mechanical issues like footwork, which he believes are easily fixable. He commended Williams for his strong arm and off-platform throws. How good is Williams? Will Ben Johnson be successful with Williams in Chicago?…

Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss Tom Dundon buying the Portland Trail Blazers. Tom Dundon, owner of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes, has reached a tentative agreement to purchase the Portland Trail Blazers from the estate of the late Paul Allen. The reported deal is valued at around $4B and includes additional investors such as Sheel Tyle, a Portland-based entrepreneur, and Marc Zahr, co-president of Blue Owl Capital. Dundon confirmed the agreement to the Associated Press, and the deal now awaits approval from the NBA Board of Governors. Crucially, Dundon's group plans to keep the franchise in Portland, easing concerns about a potential relocation. Paul Allen originally bought the team in 1988 for $70M and passed away in 2018. Since then, his sister, Jody Allen, has overseen the franchise as part of his estate. Allen’s will directed that sports assets like the Trail Blazers be sold, with proceeds supporting philanthropic efforts. The Trail Blazers are coming off their fourth consecutive season without a playoff appearance, finishing the 2024-25 season with a 36-46 record. The acquisition signals a potential fresh start for the franchise, with local fans likely reassured by the ownership group’s commitment to keeping the team in Portland. Will the Trail Blazers really stay in Portland? Does the sale of the Portland Trail Blazers to Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon open the door for a MLB team to move to Raleigh?…
