GESPONSERT
Hilde Mosse comes from one of the wealthiest families in Berlin and stands to inherit an enormous fortune. But she longs for something more meaningful than the luxurious lifestyle her family provides. So Hilde decides to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. As the Nazis take power in Germany and the Mosse family is forced to flee, Dr. Hilde Mosse lands in New York having nearly lost everything.. She finds her calling treating the mental health of Black youth – and the symptoms of a racist system. In addition to photographs, school records, and correspondence spanning Hilde Mosse’s entire lifetime, the Mosse Family Collection in the LBI Archives includes the diaries she kept between 1928 and 1934, from the ages of 16-22. Hilde’s papers are just part of the extensive holdings related to the Mosse Family at LBI. Learn more at lbi.org/hilde . The entire team at Antica Productions and Leo Baeck Institute is deeply saddened by the passing of our Executive Producer, Bernie Blum. We would not have been able to tell these stories without Bernie's generous support. Bernie was also President Emeritus of LBI and Exile would not exist without his energetic and visionary leadership. We extend our condolences to his entire family. May his memory be a blessing. Looking at an advertisement in 1986 teaches a valuable lifelong lesson. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakeupcall/support
Are you creating content? Or Are you creating culture? Today we look back at the first issue of Thrasher Magazine that I can remember ever seeing. This was the first time in my life when I can remember loving advertising as much as the content that it was there to support. This would create a lifelong goal of being a storyteller in advertising, content creation and media. Through my years as a musician, a designer in the music industry and now as a podcaster the story of a brand is significant to me as I try to tell my own as well as the stories of all of my guests. Every day when I hit record I know that I'm selling you something, my story, my idea, my guest, my sponsor. I hope that I do it in a way where you see real value and that hopefully, that value is our bond! I'm trying to create a community that values the same culture and yes being a consumer is part of it, but it doesn't have to define it. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakeupcall/support…

Season 02 of Wake Up Call starts with an explanation of why I'm looking back at 1986 - 2000 in my life. A time spent in the Hardcore / Punk / Emo music scene but more importantly a time when I learned my greatest life lessons. A 14 year run of doing things the wrong way, to determine how to them the right. Welcome to the "Lost Years" of my youth. Become a part of Wake Up Call, and its content by becoming a partner at https://anchor.fm/wakeupcall. Partners can ask questions and make requests that Mark will create episodes around. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wakeupcall/support…
