Manage episode 432512235 series 3565595
“We should hope for the best but prepare for the worst. And the right way to prepare is to better optimize our economic policies for the economy of today, ultimately ensuring their efficacy for the economy of tomorrow.” This is the philosophy of Dr. Jason Furman, whom I am delighted to have as my guest today. Dr. Furman was the top economic advisor for the Obama Administration for eight years, and he was the 28th Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors. He also served under the Clinton Administration. Currently, Dr. Furman is the Aetna Professor of the Practice of Economic Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and the Department of Economics at Harvard University, and he co-teaches the largest course there. He is a member of several organizations including the Council on Foreign Relations and the Hamilton Project and writes regularly for publications like the Wall Street Journal. Dr. Furman has also authored three books. Welcome to Careers: Charting Your Course, Dr. Furman!
