The latest full episode of The WTAF Show drops November 23 - U.S. Thanksgiving Day! - and it’s a pretty special one. We can’t wait to share it with you.

Diana’s trip to Ghana is so much more than your typical travel vlog; she takes you on a voyage through the layers of a country that is steeped in her own heritage and ancestry.

Diana spends time with incredible Ghanians - like fashion designer Awore Abena Ageman - exploring their commitments to innovation, African excellence and the country’s path forward to a thriving economy. Throughout the episode she cooks traditional cuisine, enjoys the street food and markets of Accra, and celebrates the thriving art scene in Ghana.

She also steps deeply into history and her own personal ancestry in a visit to Cape Coast - the haunting castle where Africans were sold into slavery. The historical grounds preserve the horrific journey where captured men, women and children were sold and packed into ships headed to the Americas. At the river next to the castle, where thousands were given the Last Bath before the slavery auctions, Diana scattered the ashes of her recently-deceased mother and aunt while there: a child of Africa, her ancestors paved the way for their daughter to return back to the soil.

It’s one of our deepest episodes yet, and we hope it connects you with Ghana as much as we did making it.

We chose Thanksgiving for the episode to remind us, while we're giving thanks, of the history and origins of the U.S. - and the people who built it. More than a few descendents of Ghanians are Americans today, and while we honor the contemporary meaning of the holiday - to give thanks and have gratitude for the blessings we have in our lives - we also acknowledge that the richness of this nation could not exist without the contributions of the people who came here - both willingly and unwillingly. This episode encourages us along the path to the future in celebration of acceptance, gratitude, and cultural might.
