Conscience plays a more conspicuous role in Kant’s moral and religious psychology than in Hegel’s, but both interpret central tenets of the Christian religion (original sin, the passion of Christ, repentence) in terms that emphasize psychological phenomena of conscience, placing them in opposition to nature. This talk will offer a critical comparison based on Kant’s Religion within the Boundaries of Mere Reason and Hegel’s Lectures on the Philosophy of Religion, with reference also to the Phenomenology of Spirit. http://hegel2014.univie.ac.at/
